How much does a Santorini wedding cost?

Santorini is one of the few places where couples ask the price before they ask anything else, and where the honest answer is a wide one. Below is what the island actually charges, taken from the published figures of the venues we hold there. No averages, no guesses — just what each venue has told us its wedding starts at, and the decisions that move that number.

The short answer

We hold 15 wedding venues in Santorini, and fourteen of them publish a starting price. The lowest is €500, for private use of the wedding terrace at Madame Sousou. The highest is €14,000 at Le Ciel on the Imerovigli cliff. Between those two sit a windmill villa at €565, a hilltop restaurant at €800, a cave suite package at €1,800, a winery terrace at €2,500 and a purpose-built wedding venue at €4,350.

That spread of more than thirteen thousand euros is not a quality gradient. It is four different products sold under the same word. Some of those figures buy two hours and a set of chairs. Others buy seven and a half hours, a planner, dinner, a photographer and a DJ. Reading a Santorini price list without knowing which is which is how couples end up comparing a deposit with a whole wedding.

What the venue fee actually buys

Start with the hourly end. Athina Luxury Suites in Fira opens at €2,000 for a two-hour hire of the private terrace, which includes a styled floral gazebo and the full ceremony chair setup. Rocabella Santorini starts at €1,800 for 2 hours of exclusive, ceremony-only use, with a sound system, a white wooden pergola and white Tiffany chairs. El Viento is the most transparent of the lot: €565 including VAT for the first two hours and €290 for every additional hour, with a two-hour minimum once you pass 20 guests. Two hours covers a ceremony and photographs. It does not cover a dinner.

Then there are the venues priced by the event. Venetsanos Winery at Athinios charges €2,500 for 6 hours of the Upper Terrace for up to 60 guests. Le Ciel lists a venue fee of €3,900 including VAT for a ceremony and reception of 6 to 9 hours, inside a wedding that starts at €14,000. Canaves Epitome in Oia begins at €6,000 for exclusive evening hire of the Sunset Terrace at Elements Restaurant, with banquet tables, Chiavari chairs and a two-tier cake included; add the pool area and the venue rental becomes €11,000.

And then the packages that carry most of the wedding inside them. Carpe Diem at Pyrgos starts at €4,350 for 7.5 hours of venue hire with in-house planning, catering, photography and DJ services in the price. Thermes Villas and Spa opens at €4,740 for 16 guests and includes a 3 night stay with breakfast on your own terrace. Love Cave Venue in Oia starts at €1,800 for the Jasmine Package: two nights' accommodation for the couple with breakfast, one-day venue rental for up to six guests, and a wedding arch with chairs. Compare those against a two-hour terrace fee and the picture reorders itself completely.

Catering is the line that scales

The venue fee is fixed. Catering is not, and it is where a guest list turns into a bill. Four of our Santorini venues publish a per-head food price and the range between them is wide: Madame Sousou at €58 per person, Pyrgos Restaurant at €89, Athina Luxury Suites at €130, and Rocabella Santorini at €170. The gap between the lowest and the highest is close to three times over, before a drink is poured.

Drinks are quoted separately and follow the same pattern: €35 per person at Pyrgos Restaurant, €54 at Madame Sousou, €55 at Athina, €85 at Islet Santorini and €87 at Thermes. If you are weighing two venues against each other, the per-head lines deserve more attention than the hire fee, because they are the ones that multiply. A venue that looks dearer on hire and cheaper per head can easily finish lower.

Nine of the fifteen have in-house catering and three work from a recommended caterers list. That distinction matters for control as much as cost: an in-house kitchen means one contract and one point of blame, while a caterers list means you negotiate the food yourself and can shape it to a budget.

Your guest count decides the shortlist

Santorini has a reputation for small weddings, and the caldera venues earn it. Love Cave Venue caps at 16 guests. Canaves Oia Suites takes 30 with the hotel held exclusively. Mystique holds ceremony and reception at 40. Athina and Madame Sousou both stop at 50, though Madame Sousou seats 40 for the ceremony and 50 for the reception, which is the kind of detail worth checking early.

Above that, the island opens up more than its reputation suggests. Nine of the fifteen take 100 guests or more. Canaves Epitome and El Viento both reach 100. Islet Santorini, Le Ciel and Venetsanos Winery all reach 120, and Le Ciel sets a floor as well as a ceiling, running from 30 to 120. Rocabella's pool terrace holds 130. Carpe Diem and Thermes both take 200 — Thermes seats up to 250 outdoors for dinner, with a closed indoor room seating 80. And Pyrgos Restaurant, at the highest point of its village, takes ceremonies of 300 and receptions of 600. If your list is genuinely large, Santorini is not closed to you; you simply move inland and uphill, away from the caldera edge where space is the constraint.

Whether your guests sleep on site

This is the quiet variable that changes a Santorini budget more than the venue fee does, because island accommodation in season is not cheap and shuttling guests along the caldera road at midnight is neither simple nor free. Seven of the fifteen state a figure for how many people they sleep. Canaves Epitome sleeps up to 150, so a wedding of 100 can put every guest on the property. Mystique sleeps up to 82 against a ceremony capacity of 40. Athina sleeps 58 across 19 suites, against 50 wedding guests. Thermes sleeps 52 across 8 villas, 3 junior suites and a 2 bed apartment.

The others are narrower. Carpe Diem sleeps 26 in 10 north-facing suites, each with a private pool — enough for the immediate party, not the guest list. Love Cave sleeps 3 and El Viento sleeps 2, which tells you plainly what sort of wedding each is built for. Islet Santorini includes an exclusive villa with the venue for preparations and an overnight stay. Rocabella quotes an average yearly bedroom rate of €600 per room including breakfast, which is a useful thing to have in writing when you are modelling a three-night island stay for a wedding party.

Exclusive use, curfew and the shape of the evening

Twelve of the fifteen offer full exclusivity, which on a busy island in August is worth more than it sounds. Eight are licensed for marriage on site, so the legal ceremony and the celebration happen in one place with no transfer between them.

Curfew is the question couples forget to ask, and it varies sharply. El Viento runs on until 1AM and permits fireworks. Thermes plays music outdoors until 23:00 and then moves the party into a banquet room with its own bar, sound, lights and a DJ stage under a late licence. Mystique permits music until 11pm, which is why its own description points towards a long dinner rather than a late party. Four venues permit fireworks; six have step-free access, and Le Ciel is one of the very few Santorini venues with easy access and wheelchair ramps, which is a real consideration on an island built out of steps.

Minimum stays are part of the price

Five of our Santorini venues carry a minimum stay, and it belongs in the budget from the beginning rather than as a surprise at contract stage. Thermes asks for 3 nights and builds them into its €4,740 package for 16 guests. Carpe Diem and Love Cave each ask for 2 nights; at Love Cave the two nights for the couple, with breakfast, are inside the €1,800 starting price. Islet Santorini and Mystique each ask for 1 night. In every case the minimum stay is doing something for you — holding the property, giving you the morning before and the morning after — but it is money, and it should be counted.

Where on the island changes the bill

Oia is the address everyone pictures and it prices accordingly: Canaves Epitome from €6,000, Canaves Oia Suites from €3,000, Mystique from €4,000, and Canaves Oia itself on the quiet edge of the village. Capacities there are small and the money buys the caldera. Imerovigli holds Le Ciel, the island's highest published starting figure, on the cliff. Fira gives you Athina, where the reception is steps from the room. Move inland and south and the arithmetic changes: Pyrgos holds both Carpe Diem and Pyrgos Restaurant, the island's largest capacities at its lowest hire fees; Megalochori has El Viento at €565 for the first two hours; and Athinios has the Venetsanos vineyard above the water.

Distance from the airport is rarely a cost line, but it is a comfort one. Carpe Diem is 5km from Santorini Airport and Islet Santorini is 8km from it — short transfers on an island where the caldera road in season is anything but.

Three honest routes through the island

The two of you, or close to it. Love Cave Venue is built for this and priced for it: 16 guests at most, both cave suites yours, a terrace looking straight down at the caldera, and a starting figure of €1,800 that already contains two nights and breakfast. Mystique keeps ceremony and reception at 40 from €4,000, with the Pavilion aisle and exclusive use of its Lure restaurant, and Canaves Oia Suites gives you the whole hotel for 30 from €3,000.

A real wedding with a real guest list. This is where the island rewards looking past Oia. Venetsanos gives you 6 hours of a private winery terrace for up to 60 at €2,500. Islet Santorini takes 120 with exclusive use, a sound system with six DJ positions and a villa included, from €6,700. Carpe Diem folds planning, catering, photography and a DJ into €4,350 and takes 200. Thermes puts 200 in the same place your party is sleeping and plants your whole weekend on one site.

A large celebration. Pyrgos Restaurant is the outlier and a genuinely useful one: hire from €800, food at €89 a head, drinks at €35, ceremonies to 300 and receptions to 600, at the top of a village well away from the busier stretches, with fireworks permitted and a helipad on site. Very few Santorini venues can hold a wedding of that size at all.

One last note on how to read any of this. A starting price is a floor, and it is honest, but it describes the venue's least expensive version of itself. Ask each venue what the figure includes, how many hours it covers, what the per-head lines are, when the music has to stop, and whether a minimum stay applies.
